Hey everyone! this is Xinwen again! What can we say? We’re already in the year of 2012.
It was indeed a soaring era for Go in Brunei in the year 2010 to 2011. Sometime the higher you soar in the heaven, the harder you have to flap the wings to bear with the pressure.
Some of the clubs had failed me; some of them barely alive; nevertheless, Brunei Darussalam Go Association had finally established on the 25th May, 2011! It was my first ultimate goal, but it wasn’t the end of my ambition – IT IS JUST THE BEGINNING of a great story to be told.
Many things had happened certainly in within the Go community of Brunei, new appeared but some good one left. It wasn’t the best year for the Go development in Brunei but certainly not the worst because there used to have an old saying : “万事起步难” which literally means “million issues/matters always been tough for first step“.
The result of International Scene was not impressive this year which had been a let-down for the Go Association; however it certainly awake me to realise the competent levels of the players in Brunei seriously need to be push-up.
Furthermore, I have totally failed to organise any Tournaments and even the 2nd League of Brunei had failed to finish – what is the matter? I certainly have no idea whats going on. However i had to force a Annual Event to occur which was the 3-days Training Camp.
Many times i have asked myself, what is best? Is it wrong to have the passion in Go? Mr.David had once again reminded me not spending my time driving this Association matters, should spend my time in Social Life. If i was insisted, probably could be my drive in Business Organisation.
I have known myself that nothing is 100% as i have to manage my 100% to Love, Social, Studies and Go. It never easy for me. Currently I am pursuing my further studies in UK, i have always dreamed about. Due to the latter, i have entrusted my Association to Chai Hui, Zhe Fan and many others. I want to trust myself that letting them handling the work would be the right choice – but is it?

The year 2010 before 2011 was pretty smooth. 2011 was decent too in term of the scales of progression i had committed. Brunei Darussalam Go Association was finally established, but I could not manage the Association alone myself without a rightful committee and loyalty. I certainly know this Association is non-profit one and none would want to put their commitment in something non profitable.
Despite of all, i still proceed to approach the Sport and Youth Centre (Pusat Belia) and Kementerian Kebudayaan, Sukan dan Belia to continue my vision in promoting this Game of Go in Brunei. It was unarguably the right choice; the authority had provided as much assistance i could never asked for, Interview in local TV cable, workshop and demonstration.

It was certainly a great honour to have Mr.Ahmed looking after the lively JIS Go Club however he had stopped teaching and left (happened in Late November, 2011). Many Thanks!
If i couldn’t get hold of a reliable teams, members, i certainly could not proceed my next-step. A team where i could trust in their administrative skills, initiation and organising power in demonstration, expanding the influences of the game. I’m glad to have few reliable member who worked hard for the Association and promoting the game. The others were very disappointing.
If i also could not produce a competent teams, players from Brunei; How will i allow the team to participate in Olympic-scale of tournament? Representing their own beloved country Brunei?
Many times the same answer i told myself, Go and Association are not their priority in life. Its my ambition, not theirs; or do they share the same passion? same goal?
Last but not least, I’m sorry putting my new-year post being so sadist. However i do have a list of Resolution for a better future here:-
– Reach solid 5-dan as soon as possible
– Hoping a total of 10 players reaching dan-level in Brunei
– Hoping to have more female players appeared in Brunei
– More single-digit kyus players (serious learner with motivation)
– More demonstration, promotion scheme.
– More reliable organising team.
Wait.. Its about me right?
– Get 1st Class Honours in my Study
– Reach 5-dan as soon as possible
– Get through 2012 with the loved one beautifully!
