Black: Peiling

Time Setting: 30mins/3 period of 30 seconds

Venue: KGS Brunei Room

Peiling has presented his favourite fuseki, Mini Chinese Fuseki, for the reason Xinwen high pincers Black’s move-5.

Black tenuki and played , move-7 is matter of his interest. Without any depth analysis, White has simply played move-8 and Black eventually pincer with move-9 in sente.

*Expectation*

For much of Xinwen’s expectation, he hope for [Variation 1] and [Variation 2]; at which he has learned and prepared to use but usually in game, it always does not turn out as expectation.

Xinwen had gone through certain extend analysis of the plausible fuseki from Professional Games.

Generally, from the studies, White usually played tsuke kosumi with move-1. Even with the most possible outcome of [Variation 6], White is still playable.

*Joseki hesitation*

———————————————

During the joseki, so much of hesitation for decision making. To be frank, Xinwen is actually quite content with the outcome of this joseki.

However, Black with sente and shimari his corner with move-23 is the issue for White as he is behind in land; though does not mean White is out of the game.

But certainly we should study the joseki decision here.

From few variation studied, [Variation 7] gives White a loose position which is not Xinwen’s style. While [Variation 8] has worse position and move-5 is over-concentrated. Omitting does not suit White’s as well.

Looking at the different positioning from [Variation 9] and [Variation 10] indeed gives a better position than original game, not only White managed to press Black to lower position and White satisfies with the influence.

Alternative to easier sequences, Black would want to choose the modern korean joseki shown in [Variation 11] and [Variation 12] which was pretty much of White’s concern that not being able to justify the position.

*3 corners victory*

———————————————

According to Peiling’s style of play; Black is very happy to get the result after Black secured his corner with move-27. Even Black move-26 has been satisfactorily extend at safe distance.

White has generally leading in fuseki because of his three-firm corners while White does not likely to have any profit and gote with move-28.

Actually, Xinwen want to look at his move-26, is it possible to sente profit Black’s corner before moving out?

Surely the first came in mind for xinwen was to play move-1 from [Variation 13] or to get [Variation 16].Xinwen could not actually judge the position of the whole board if he has gotten the result of [Variation 14] with Black getting a wall giving his corner away. Due to the fact that Xinwen’s top left corner is empty.

While lastly regarding the fact of [Variation 15] which is very complicated if Black fights back with move-1.

Nevertheless, basing on the above Variation, White indeed has a better result from invading.

*Decisive Moment*

Figure 4 (29-50)

———————————————

Black invades with move-29 right away to erase White’s potential moyo. White move-30 in Xinwen’s opinion would be better played at B connecting; then Black surely tenuki to kakari top left’s corner.

The sequences followed up to move-50, was too aggressive. White could have played connection at A.

———————————————

First, White’s move-40 (Figure 4 (29-50)] should have played as move-1 in Variation 17. White mostly to get sente  and gets move-5.

The last part of the game, Black has gotten too strong with his bulky shape in the centre and eventually gotten 4 corners with sente at move-99.

move-101 jumping to centre has decided the result of this game.
