Final League Game

Date: 30th January, 2011
Venue: CHMS Alumni Association

White: ZheFan
Black: Xinwen

———————————————

Diagram 1 (1-23), 1,3,5 was not a very popular being used by Xinwen, actually considered as Kobayashi Fuseki. One notable Joseki first made by Xinwen was the move 23, instead of normal 1-space jump.

Xinwen thought of direct contact-joseki at “a” at which it would give a common korean joseki. Move 23, was studied in Go Seigen’s Joseki series, and it was also comment by friend Philip Cher as Banana Move.

———————————————

Xinwen’s Suggestion, in this circumstance it would be appropriate for Black to play at move 1 instead because it is very unlikely White could make a living group inside of Black’s thickness.

Diagram 2 (40-48),  Black made move 41 causing the sequence up to White move 48 created another life and death. Can the Black kill the White here? (Black sente anyway).

*Additional Life and Death*
