As usual the break started at 12 00, so far the perfect scorers were the Japan, USA and China (Nanning) Team the followed by Singapore, Hong Kong team. The sixth round is the critical moment and losing and winning all depends on this round because so far, Zhe Fan had won only 2 games with 3 loses and Hui Yee had 1 win. However the pairings for the sixth round was not an easy target:- Mah Zhe Fan (White) – 菊田义正, Japan (Black)
Sung Hui Yee (Black) – Li Minyang李明洋, Cambodia (White) Malaysia Team, Mr.Tiong fought another tough battle against Hong Kong 杜力行 and lost against the opponent in yose [joseki will be shown later]. While Wynes Leong grabbed a win from Thailand 3-dan. Mr.Tiong (3wins), Wynes (4wins) Indonesia Team, Edwin Halim and Wicky SugiHarta didn’t play well and got 2wins each of them Singapore Team, Teck Wei had incredible intense battle against the top player of USA and lost while his team player Chou Yang failed to grabbed another win from China Nanning. Teck Wei (4wins) and Chou Yang (3wins)

*New move in Joseki*

Recently, Xinwen had encountered people tried many new moves in Joseki , and in fact it is somehow essential to understand them to certain degree. [New Joseki], the Hong Kong player, 杜力行 who seemed to be very confident in joseki had played the move 4 against Mr.Tiong of Malaysia. This was not the first time Xinwen had seen White not answering at A or B. For the moment, Xinwen could not find any variation or best example regarding this joseki but certainly it was played Korean Professional since 1987.

Very soon after the sixth  round, Wang Runan (王汝南) played a simultaneous game against the referee. Surprisingly, the organizer had decided to ask Wang Runan (8-pro dan) to play a teaching game against Sung Hui Yee alone with such great honour!

[Diagram 1 (1~11)], the starting flows normally until Wang-sensei  played 11 saying “exam question”. He further commented, ” this move is used frequently to test the player whether they can pass with flying colours”. [Diagram 2 (12~26)], Hui Yee answered fairly all right even Wang-sensei commented “move 16 is a strong move!”. However move 18 was a bit off, should had been played at A. [Diagram 3 (26~85)], The game continued with several obvious mistakes. Hui Yee missed the chance of A after she made move 34.

The professional player beside 王汝南 is the well-known 陈祖德 and the teaching game only offered to South East Asian players. This time Zhe Fan chose to play against 王汝南 with 4-handicap stones.
