*The hermit*

An old hermit walked around the village and the area day and night, and even in daylight still carried a lit lantern. One day the villagers had enough curiosity to ask him “Sir, why do you carry your lantern lit in daylight?” He said, “Because I’m searching for an honest man.”

This is a story most often attributed to Diogenes of Sinope, one major contributor to the Cynic “school” of philosophy.

The hermit who claimed to be “dashftw” had been assaulting elite members of heraldry, the castle and had an incredible pinned down duel on the young lord, hiuhiu, had imposed to as national threat.

Xinwen had his first confrontation, one night, flashing out each other’s sword. Dashftw greeted Xinwen with move 7, an uncommon move to be exact.

Instinctively, xinwen played defensive move at 8 which Xinwen had thought it would be better to play “a” to create sequential move for joseki shown in Variation Diagram 1.

Even if Dashftw played move “2” in Variation Diagram 2, it is believed that white is more active taking the initiation at jump. Either way, if Black 2 was to make at “a”, White will still jump. If Black has turned move 2 to “3”, White probably go for “b”.

Dashftw surprisingly made move “19” which no one at all would make, basically it was a mistake. Thus this had created a delusion that Dashftw was not as strong as Xinwen would expected to be.

When dashftw made move “6”, xinwen had realized that the black was an orthodox player; even by right the situation was considerably favourable for White.

White “3” can be considered to play at move “7” instead (shown in Variation Diagram 3.  White will cut with 7, then if black 8 atari followed by black atari at “a to c” for corner, then White would “f” clearing the thickness of the black to the right. If Black atari directly at “f”  instead of 8, given that black wants to emphasize the right.

Dashftw’s move 41 was incredible, immediately struck Xinwen’s attention that he was being tested. Move 47 parachuted down was more impressive when Xinwen’s move 46 being ignored.

The game lasted at the disadvantageous for Xinwen to deal with, 1.5 point won in the end. Although this was a testing game, however proven that Dashftw was potential rising star of Brunei.
